A Legacy Built on Precision

Five Decades of

Care in Motion.

What began as a small family operation in London has evolved into an international network trusted by collectors, designers, and institutions around the world. Hedley’s Group has defined the art of movement — combining traditional craftsmanship with modern logistics to deliver excellence from door to destination.

From our early years serving London’s galleries and auction houses to our expansion across Europe and the United States, our story has always been guided by one principle: every piece deserves to be handled with precision, discretion, and respect. Today, that same commitment continues to move us, connecting people, places, and the world’s finest possessions.

    1970s: Beginnings in Antiques

Before founding the company, our journey began in the bustling antiques market on Portobello Road, London.

As an antiques dealer, the lack of reliable transport solutions for valuable and fragile items inspired the idea for a specialized logistics company.

  • A vintage delivery truck with a white cab and black bumper, parked on a street surrounded by trees.

    1973: Hedley's Humpers Founded

With just £200 and a small van, Hedley’s Humpers was officially established to provide bespoke transport solutions for art and antiques. This marked the beginning of a service designed to meet the unique needs of dealers, collectors, and galleries.

With a fleet tailored for fine art, antiques, and designer furnishings, the company established regular routes between the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and beyond.

This decade marked the beginning of Hedley’s Humpers international logistics network — connecting key cultural and commercial centres and setting new standards for reliability, care, and craftsmanship on the road.

  • A black building with large windows, a metal gate, and barbed wire on top, next to a parking lot where a truck is parked; the building displays the number 3 and is part of an industrial or commercial facility.
