Learn the Craft.

Build the Foundation. Earn Your Place.

At Hedley’s Group, skills are passed down — not rushed. Our apprenticeship pathway is designed for people who want to learn a craft properly, understand why things are done a certain way, and build a long-term career in specialist logistics, fine art handling, and installations.

This is not a short course or a box-ticking programme. It’s an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and become part of a team trusted with some of the world’s most valuable and meaningful objects.

What an Apprenticeship at Hedley’s Means

As an apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a project, including:

  • Professional packing techniques for fine art, antiques, furniture, and interiors

  • Safe handling and movement of high-value and fragile objects

  • Crate making and materials knowledge

  • Installations in residential, gallery, and institutional settings

  • Warehouse operations and logistics fundamentals

  • Understanding risk, condition reporting, and object care

You’ll learn not just how to do the work, but how to think, plan, and execute at a professional level.

Who This Is For

Our apprenticeships are suited to individuals who:

  • Enjoy practical, hands-on work

  • Take pride in learning a skill properly

  • Are reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented

  • Work well in a team and take instruction seriously

  • Respect objects, spaces, and clients

No prior experience in art handling or logistics is required. Curiosity, discipline, and a strong work ethic matter far more than a polished CV.

How You’ll Learn

  • On-the-job training alongside senior team members

  • Gradual responsibility as skills and confidence develop

  • Exposure to real-world projects from day one

  • Mentorship rooted in experience, not theory

  • Clear expectations, feedback, and progression

We believe mastery takes time — and we’re committed to teaching it properly.

Where an Apprenticeship Can Lead

Many of our senior team members began by learning the fundamentals. An apprenticeship at Hedley’s can lead to:

  • Art Handler or Installer roles

  • Packing or Crate Making specialisms

  • Crew Lead or Supervisor positions

  • Long-term careers within Hedley’s Group

Progression is based on skill, attitude, and consistency — not titles.

Our Commitment

As a family-run business, we see apprenticeships as an investment in people and in the future of the trade. We offer a respectful working environment, meaningful work, and the chance to develop skills that are valued worldwide.
